20 months of hard training for the Jiu-Jitsu green belt for Andy

Our member Andy Loudon joint Ichinen Bridport martial art school in september 2014 at the age of 42. Today, 20 months later and after serious and hard training under the supervision of Bridport Sensei Horst Lindenau, Andy passed his grading for 3rd Kyu (green belt) in the martial art style Jiu-Jitsu.

Andy trained on average every week twice in the club and made an enormous progress since he started. And: "I am fitter and healthier with my training and definitely learned some serious self defence skills. Beside that I like the traditional way we learn this martial art in the school and of cause it's a really good team here. Thank you all to assist me in such a great way and special thanks to our Sensei Master Horst."

64 years old - and still rolling! And three new 8th Kyu Karate grades at Ichinen Bridport

64 years old and still rolling, that's about the story of Lewis A. Harris. A fine martial artist for a long time with grades in Krav Maga (green belt) and Kyokushin Karate (brown belt). Lewis is a member of local Bridport martial art school Ichinen Bridport since the year 2014 and graded now as 3rd Kyu /green belt in Jiu-Jitsu.

His grading was watched by the Ichinen grading commission under Master Horst Lindenau (Jiu-Jitsu) and after his exceptional performance Master Horst handed a well deserved 3rd Kyu/green belt certificate to Lewis. Well done Lewis and a big congratulation from all of us at Ichinen Bridport!!

4th Kyu Jiu-Jitsu for Andy Loudon from Ichinen Bridport martial arts school

Big day for Andy Loudon and Ichinen Bridport. Thursday the 13th of August 2015 Andy Loudon took another step into the martial arts. He successfully passed his second grading at our local martial arts school and was awarded the orange belt (4th Kyu) in the traditional Japanese Budo discipline Jiu-Jitsu.

Andy was a bit nervous before his grading, but Master Horst Lindenau guided him through the test and finally Andy passed with a respectable mark 2. Well done and congratulations to Andy from the whole team at Ichinen Bridport.

The grading consists of classic Jiu-Jitsu techniques as throws, arm locks, kicks, hold downs and transport grips. Followed by seven various defences against the most common attacks in real life situations. Rolls and falls and a test in theory completes this martial arts grading.

From his last examination to yellow belt Andy had to train a minimum of 4 months to be excepted for his next step.

Well done Andy Loudon!

Here are some images to give you an idea how it's like.

Jiu-Jitsu > the soft Art

Today evening from 7 pm onwards there will be gradings at Ichinen Bridport Jiu-Jitsu. Good luck to all!

20 September 2013

It was grading time again. Two new yellow belts in town!

Last Thursday the 19th of September we held our latest belt gradings at Ichinen Bridport. This can be a nervous time for even the most experienced Jiu-Jitsu-Ka. And in this case, this was their first ever taste.

It is encouraging to see for the growth of our club, that with the help and support of all of us, students and me, Master Horst, the graduates have worked so hard on their Martial Arts journey.

Clive Ashley (Westbay) and Liam Blazey (Shipton Gorge) have both trained hard and concentrated towards this special day. The standard delivered again here at Ichinen Bridport shows the good quality and high standard of performance.

After the whole syllabus was shown by both students, they received their first Jiu-Jitsu grading certificate from Master Horst Lindenau.

All gradings are officially recognized by the AMA (http://www.amauk.co.uk/). Students obtain a certificate and the grading result will be entered in the personnel AMA record book.

Congratulation to both of you to the 5th Kyu in Jiu-Jitsu, Clive and Liam! I am proud of your achievements. My Grandmaster used to say: “In your students you recognize yourself”.
