We train the 10 most common attacks

At Ichinen Bridport martial arts school we take self defence serious. Main focus is on the most common attacks and defence against armed attacks as well as defence with weapons.
This includes natural and unnatural weapons.

A typical set of weapons for a grading towards the 2nd Kyu blue belt could look like this

04 November 2016

84 techniques and 2 fights for a 2nde Kyu Jiu-Jitsu blue belt

This is how a blue belt worksheet looks like and gives you all the skills a student needs to know at this stage.

It starts with the breakfalls

Break falls
roll forward, backward roll, roll sideways, all left and right
fall forward, -back and sideways and 3 rolls over an obstacle + 3 free choice
3 breakfalls and rolls on hard floor

Next comes various Jiu Jitsu skills

2 Feet throws + follow up technique
2 Hip throws + follow up technique
2 Shoulder throws + follow up technique
2 self falling techniques
5 defenses against strangle hold
5 strangling holds
3 hold down + 3 liberations
5 transport grips
4 wrist locks
Throat nerve press, control attacker
4 arm locks
4 defense against bear hugs
3 Kicks
5 defenses against various weapons/objects
5 show use of unnatural weapons
1 fight against minimum orange belt, 3 min

Every graduate at Ichinen Bridport has to demonstrate a defence against the most common attacks

Each one defence against following situations:

1. One person pushes, hands to chest, followed by the pusher striking to the head.
2. A swinging punch to the head.
3. A front clothing grab, one handed, followed by a punch to the head / or a head butt
4. A front clothing grab, two hands, followed by the knee to the groin.
5. A bottle or glass to the head.
6. A lashing kick to the groin
7. A slash with knife

A blue belt Jiu-Jitsu is very precious for the martial artist

20 September 2013

It was grading time again. Two new yellow belts in town!

Last Thursday the 19th of September we held our latest belt gradings at Ichinen Bridport. This can be a nervous time for even the most experienced Jiu-Jitsu-Ka. And in this case, this was their first ever taste.

It is encouraging to see for the growth of our club, that with the help and support of all of us, students and me, Master Horst, the graduates have worked so hard on their Martial Arts journey.

Clive Ashley (Westbay) and Liam Blazey (Shipton Gorge) have both trained hard and concentrated towards this special day. The standard delivered again here at Ichinen Bridport shows the good quality and high standard of performance.

After the whole syllabus was shown by both students, they received their first Jiu-Jitsu grading certificate from Master Horst Lindenau.

All gradings are officially recognized by the AMA (http://www.amauk.co.uk/). Students obtain a certificate and the grading result will be entered in the personnel AMA record book.

Congratulation to both of you to the 5th Kyu in Jiu-Jitsu, Clive and Liam! I am proud of your achievements. My Grandmaster used to say: “In your students you recognize yourself”.
