Martial art is the most effective physical outwork

"Martial art is the most effective physical outwork", says Master Horst Lindenau (4th Dan Jiu-Jitsu). Why would that be?

At Ichinen Bridport Jiu-Jitsu we train the whole, body and mind. When it comes to the fitness level, our training produces an all-round approach. When people join any single kind of sports activity, they assume this will do all for them. Joggers, weightlifter, tennis players and so on.

Just think of swimming, it doesn't build up muscles. The weightlifter lacks in endurance.

While martial arts, especially traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu covers all aspects.

and don't you forget the mind...

You can join us  by contacting Master Horst on 07968-235486 to arrange a trial session.

Training regular is on Thursdays for seniors and juniors.

Personal fitness is essential for self defence

When you start your training with us, you can do so at whatever fitness lever and in any physical condition. As long you are healthy enough to call yourself "fit for sports" you can join. Before you can start, you need to answer a few questions about your health and well-being.

After you accepted and you have trained for a while, your personal fitness level will increase. This is a progress which takes time and can only be judged after a period of three month at first and than again after six months from start. You can be sure that you will gain a better health status, physical and mental fitness and a general all over well being status. This all is already worth to start with the training of Jiu-Jitsu.

PS. Beside that you learn a great martial art and real self defence.

A new you in May 2017

Dear former students and interested parties

Today I like to give you a little insight of what happened at Ichinen Bridport martial arts school since you left or contacted us last.

The training of the martial arts is going very well. Students enjoy the traditional way of learning Japanese style Jiu-Jitsu and the Anti Terror Combat supplies a modern approach for daily self defence. Two students have graduated already as black belts and soon three others take their first grading. Jiu-Jitsu has got more senior belts by now than beginners. That needs improvement, that’s why I write to you to encourage you to take it up again.

Update  >>>

Anti Terror Combat is now called BlackCombat!

Yoga and Meditation is not less popular, us few we love it and the benefit is enormous and makes life richer.

Our web page is new too, check it out here http://ichinenbridport.com/

Be great to hear from you and even better if you make a step forward and join us.

Training times are
Mediation         > Sundays 9-10 am
Yoga                     > Mondays 9-10 am
Jiu-Jitsu               > Tuesday + Thursday 7-8.30 pm
Anti Terror Combat > Thursday 8.45-9.45 pm + Sunday 6-7.30 pm

Join us before 8th of June 2017 and you don’t pay any joining fee and insurance will be free for 1 year. Make the most of yourself – we all work together.

Best wishes
Master Horst

You need to drink!

As we really enjoy this hot summer, our training sessions in the Dojo can become quite tough sometimes. Especially when the thermometer climbs up towards 30°. But as I say, stop moaning, what shall all those Jiujitsukas say they live in countries, where it is always hot as now here just over the summer?

So as we train more or less the same way than on ordinary days, the body needs definite more liquid to drink. And here the best you can do is, just drink clear plain water. Bring a bottle of water or use the tap water in the hall. You do not need any so called energy drinks or special designed "sport drinks" They are useless and only suck your money. Cheers water!

Running - the most effective way to keep fit

As a martial artist, you need a lot of endurance and physical power. I keep it with the legend Bruce Lee. He said, running is the best way to stay fit. It not enough just to do the regular martial art session. If one wants to be fit, the easy way to do so is, go out and run.

That reminds me again of the "Bridport Harriers". No evidence to find, they seem to be gone. I really liked the way they used to run together. Is it more than 15 years ago? We all met up and had a good workout. So, I thought why not reinvent this good procedure? If anybody interested to have some rounds together, come and join me. Regular time 6pm, every Monday, start at St.Swithun's Corner shop, North Allington. Full round will be one hour and beginners can stop after 30 minutes.
