Martial arts expert Grandmaster Horst D. Lindenau is hosting a self defence workshop on Monday the 11th of September 2023. Subject of this teaching is "the use of weapons in self defence situations". Workshop is held in Bridport DT6 3TR, St. Catherine's school hall. To keep this event personal, the audience is limited to 12 students this time. Sorry, no spectators!

Jiu-Jitsu meets BlackCombat

 Jiu-Jitsu is a traditional Japanese martial art. Jiu-Jitsu is an allround combat system, which includes a wide range of techniques. Throws and locks are known, but kicks and strikes are of same importance. Beside these, we do nerve grips and a fair amount of mental training too.

With BlackCombat, the 1000s of Jiu-Jitsu skills have been put togehter like a magnifying glass and this time the focus is only and exclusive on self defence. This extract is called BlackCombat.

 Merry Cristmas to all our members at Bridport Jiu-Jitsu. Merry Cristmas to all friends and families! Last Jiu-Jitsu session we did a little surprise for the newest and youngest members and held a little Chrismas party.

Training is going now again very well after a year in lockdown and all the restrictions. Now we full back in training. 

Children age 6-12 train Thursdays their Jiu-Jitsu in Bridport. New members still welcome, 4 places actual availabel at the moment.

Adults train Jiu-Jitsu and BlackCombat in thre locations, 2 x Bridport and 1 in Maiden Newton. New fighters always welcome.

Our black belt grading day in 2019

On October the 31st we held our annual grading day for master degrees at Ichinen Bridport.
This time the event was at the dojo British Legion hall in Bridport and we used our regular training times instead choosing a weekend.

And all went ever so well! The examiners in  the grading panel were happy with the brilliant organisation of the ceremony and the many spectators were presented a well performed run and gradings.

Two new master grades at Ichinen Bridport

On 23.06.2019 our member Scott McGregor from Bridport graduated as a 1st Dan BlackCombat. On Thursday the 11.07.2019 Master Lewis A. Harris graduated as a 2nd Dan BlackCombat and both received their precious black belt certificates from Grand master Horst D. Lindenau (6th Dan) during the session on that day.

We like to thank both masters for their hard work and help to continue the expansion of the BlackCombat self defence style. Big congratulations!

Seven most common attacks in Bridport

Master Horst D. Lindenau is the only martial arts teacher in Bridport who teaches self defence in combination with the seven most common attacks. We believe it does not make much sense to train just any martial arts techniques and ignore the reality in the streets.

Grand master Horst D. Lindenau is not only an expert in real self defence (6th Dan Anti Terror Combat and 6th Dan BlackCombat), he served in the security industry as a SIA registered security officer and as a former captain in the German Navy he knows his skills.

The seven most common attacks according to law enforcement

1. One person pushes, hands to chest, which is normally followed by the pusher striking first, to the head.

2. A swinging punch to the head.

3. A front clothing grab, one handed, followed by punch to the head.

4. A front clothing grab, two hands, followed by a head butt.

5. A front clothing grab, two hands, followed by a knee to the groin.

6. A bottle, glass, or ashtray to the head.

7. A lashing kick to the groin or lower legs.

At Ichinen Bridport martial arts school we take self defence serious. Main focus is on the most common attacks and defence against armed attacks as well as defence with weapons.
This includes natural and unnatural weapons.

Ichinen Bridport offers good martial art training in Bridport. Our classes are running several times the week and the style we teach is suitable for men and women. Beginners always welcome. There are special classes for children aged 6-12. Come and join this friendly local martial arts school.

The grading system of BlackCombat

BlackCombat is a separate style we teach at our local martial art school Ichinen Bridport. This system for self defence combines the very modern with the very traditional.

Very modern when we look at the techniques each grading syllabus requires and very traditional as BlackCombat has broken with the multi colored belt system which is today found in most martial arts. Varying from 6 up to 15 student grades and followed by the master grades.

BlackCombat uses the three belt system as it was in use before Budo left Japan.

A white belt is the first grade, followed by the brown belt, the senior student. These grades have to be gained via a grading.

The 1. Dan black belt is at first awarded by the personal master and the aspirant has than got one year time to "work off the black belt syllabus". Otherwise the grade becomes invalid and is taken away.

Another way to gain a BlackCombat master grade is to prove significant skills and knowledge in the field of self defence. Not every martial artist can claim these skills. Some are focused in sports activities etc. In this case an aspirant can retrain and widen his skills with the self defence before joining.

If a martial arts master can prove good skills of self defence, he or she can be graduated according to the previous grade and amount of self defence skills.
