Bridport Jiu-Jitsu master retired

Big change at Ichinen Bridport. Our Master Lewis A. Harris, 2nd Dan Jiu-Jitsu has retired from active training. Lewis trained with us since 2014, after he finished 8 years of Krav Maga training and was a 1st Kyu in Kyukoshin Kai Karate. He achieved the 2nd Dan in BlackCombat. Lewis will be 71 years and has trained active until now. Jiu-Jitsu at Ichinen Bridport keeps young!

He always supported everybody with his experience and great martial arts attitude. And he hardly ever missed a session. Even when he couldn't train he attended the class and watched. Now his membership upgraded to a membership of honour and Lewis will assist the club when required, such as gradings and special occasions. We all miss you on the mat and wish you all well for the future! Thank you Lewis for all your good work!

And now we go altogether to his favourite Indian, the Taj Mahal in Bridport and celebrate a bit. All the very best for the future Master Lewis!

Lewis graduated as 2nd Dan Jiu-Jitsu in 2022. Photo shows Master Horst Lindenau presents his certificate and his grading partners from left Mike Beaumont-Eves, Mark Butt and Paul Blake.

Jiu-Jitsu meets BlackCombat

Jiu-Jitsu is a traditional Japanese martial art. Jiu-Jitsu is an allround combat system, which includes a wide range of techniques. Throws and locks are known, but kicks and strikes are of same importance. Beside these, we do nerve grips and a fair amount of mental training too.

With BlackCombat, the 1000s of Jiu-Jitsu skills have been put togehter like a magnifying glass and this time the focus is only and exclusive on self defence. This extract is called BlackCombat.

Now you can learn BlackCombat self defence skills in Bridport too. Every Monday, Hospital Lane, 6 pm, free for beginners for the next 6 weeks!

Get the training you deserve

In Munich/Germany, a man was beaten to death again by young violent offenders. As always after such a tragic incident, you quickly cry out for more police, more surveillance cameras, tougher punishments for perpetrators or, ideally, emigrate yourself to a safer place.

I mean, who feels threatened, can't always run away, who is traveling alone and in unsafe areas should arm himself personally against such incidents. The best way to do this is with well-founded training in an effective self-defense. Black Combat is superior to other systems because it does not teach a certain style, but is based on the skills and possibilities of the practitioner.

Technology and behavior are tailored to a specific situation. Of course, your own armament is trained within the legal possibilities as well as legal and psychological aspects of street fighting. Horst D. Lindenau, founder of Black Combat, passes on his own experience and that of his teachers in courses and nationwide seminars. Bookings and information please email to Horst D. Lindenau hdlindenau@hotmail.com

Happy new year to all martial artists all over the world.

Just another year is gone with the 2020 and if you are not making any changes to your action 2021 won't be much different.

As the legend master Bruce Lee said:"If you love life, don't waste time, for time is what life is made up of".

I wish you all a happy new year, with lots of training and love and peace!

The levels of being

Our life comprises three levels, the body, the spirit and the soul.

None of these three levels is better or more sacred than the others. All are equally important and none of these three levels are perfect unless all three are perfect. It is neither right nor noble to live only for the soul and to deny the body and the spirit. And it is just as wrong to only live for the spirit and to deny the body or the soul.

Even the masters have masters

A guy said to me he does not not any advise from a coach, master or such. Ok, fair enough I say, get your information from BBC and keep on going with what they might have taught you at home or even at school.

Honestly, I m not talking to these kind of people. My role is not to convince somebody to do whatsoever. Majority wouldnt understand anyway.

for the few they are open for change to the better in their OWN lives I can reinsure you. There is always room for improvement.

It needs your decision to do so, to start and if you require some assistance.
Master Horst is here to help.

Martial arts is the salt and pepper for good life

Martial arts is about people.
People they commit themselves.
People they have a goal and work towards it.
People they have strength and willpower.
People they take one step after the other.
Martial arts makes these people.
Good example of these people Mark Butt from Ichinen Bridport.
2nd Kyu Jiu-Jitsu.

A message from Grand master Horst Lindenau 6th Dan Black Combat

Sharpen the mind. Your mind is your best weapon

Mind and body is only a tool which works for you. And as any tool it is only as good if it is kept in good order. In good weather sometimes broken ships reach the next port. Same as a martial artist who trains usually in a comfy Dojo, light and heating on, wearing a Gi and only surrounded by minds they don't do any harm. the body is protected under Dojo guidelines, health and safety instructions and very often the own laziness for hard training.

Now step in the real world. The times ahead of us will be more challenging than anything we have experienced so far in our sheltered lives.

Therefor, take your training serious. Prepare for the worst, than you are able to deal what will happen, as the worst is not that often to be happen. If, body and mind need to be aware and work together like a clockwork.

Prepare for the rising crime

Prepare for a post-lock down summer of crime and expect an increase in violence on Britain’s streets when restrictions are eased

Police have said they are concerned that an increase in violent crime by younger unemployed men and gangs looking to reclaim their turf will follow the relaxation of lock down measures.

A 'toxic mix' of young men out of work, public gatherings being permitted again and later, the opening of licensed venues such as pubs and clubs will cause this.

We should be particularly worried about public order offences, antisocial behaviour and alcohol-fuelled violence.

When lock down is over, drug dealing and gang fighting will increase again.

The impact the corona virus has had on the economy could well result in a more volatile and agitated society.

Crime figures could also spike post-lock down as evidence of domestic violence, child sexual exploitation and other crimes committed during the lowdown come to light.

In recession you see an increase in the lower end of crime. For example, acquisitive crime might rise because people steal to feed themselves.

They say, police forces are taking the common sense approach of planning for increase in crimes as restrictions are relaxed.

Are you prepared?

It’s about the fateful power of thought

My thought for today to the open minded.

Forces prevail in humans. Supernatural powers rooted in the metaphysical.
All fear, hope, belief and desires make man what he is. Healthy or sick. Strong or weak. A strong character or a torn neurotic! Don't forget, we correspond with the subconscious of all people, regardless of whether they are near or far or known.

Our life long work with the martial arts is not about some rare street fight. It's not about competitions and for medals. It is a fight which is called life. The daily combat of someones survival.
