If I wouldn't have all my various projects to work on and they need to be completed as planned... honestly another good plan is to travel the world. Just hitch hike in my Gi and visit a worldwide list of martial arts places. Dojos, events, important people and so on.

Everybody could do so. Come and join Ichinen Bridport Jiu-Jitsu. Learn the basics and off you go!

Bridport Jiu-Jitsu master retired

Big change at Ichinen Bridport. Our Master Lewis A. Harris, 2nd Dan Jiu-Jitsu has retired from active training. Lewis trained with us since 2014, after he finished 8 years of Krav Maga training and was a 1st Kyu in Kyukoshin Kai Karate. He achieved the 2nd Dan in BlackCombat. Lewis will be 71 years and has trained active until now. Jiu-Jitsu at Ichinen Bridport keeps young!

He always supported everybody with his experience and great martial arts attitude. And he hardly ever missed a session. Even when he couldn't train he attended the class and watched. Now his membership upgraded to a membership of honour and Lewis will assist the club when required, such as gradings and special occasions. We all miss you on the mat and wish you all well for the future! Thank you Lewis for all your good work!

And now we go altogether to his favourite Indian, the Taj Mahal in Bridport and celebrate a bit. All the very best for the future Master Lewis!

Lewis graduated as 2nd Dan Jiu-Jitsu in 2022. Photo shows Master Horst Lindenau presents his certificate and his grading partners from left Mike Beaumont-Eves, Mark Butt and Paul Blake.

Jiu-Jitsu meets BlackCombat

Jiu-Jitsu is a traditional Japanese martial art. Jiu-Jitsu is an allround combat system, which includes a wide range of techniques. Throws and locks are known, but kicks and strikes are of same importance. Beside these, we do nerve grips and a fair amount of mental training too.

With BlackCombat, the 1000s of Jiu-Jitsu skills have been put togehter like a magnifying glass and this time the focus is only and exclusive on self defence. This extract is called BlackCombat.

Now you can learn BlackCombat self defence skills in Bridport too. Every Monday, Hospital Lane, 6 pm, free for beginners for the next 6 weeks!

Martial arts is the salt and pepper for good life

Martial arts is about people.
People they commit themselves.
People they have a goal and work towards it.
People they have strength and willpower.
People they take one step after the other.
Martial arts makes these people.
Good example of these people Mark Butt from Ichinen Bridport.
2nd Kyu Jiu-Jitsu.

Prepare for the rising crime

Prepare for a post-lock down summer of crime and expect an increase in violence on Britain’s streets when restrictions are eased

Police have said they are concerned that an increase in violent crime by younger unemployed men and gangs looking to reclaim their turf will follow the relaxation of lock down measures.

A 'toxic mix' of young men out of work, public gatherings being permitted again and later, the opening of licensed venues such as pubs and clubs will cause this.

We should be particularly worried about public order offences, antisocial behaviour and alcohol-fuelled violence.

When lock down is over, drug dealing and gang fighting will increase again.

The impact the corona virus has had on the economy could well result in a more volatile and agitated society.

Crime figures could also spike post-lock down as evidence of domestic violence, child sexual exploitation and other crimes committed during the lowdown come to light.

In recession you see an increase in the lower end of crime. For example, acquisitive crime might rise because people steal to feed themselves.

They say, police forces are taking the common sense approach of planning for increase in crimes as restrictions are relaxed.

Are you prepared?
