Self-defence in Bridport is Ichinen Bridport

Here at Ichinen Bridport, a traditional martial arts school with no franchise connection and no American ties to any big corporations, we favour the original, the real, and face-to-face involvement.

When it comes to self-defence, our instructors are at the top of the list. We are updating ourselves with the latest changes in street violence, knife crime and domestic abuse.

Last Sunday, four of our students graduated as BlackCombat white belts during an outdoor self-defence seminar with Grandmaster Horst D. Lindenau, 6th Dan BlackCombat, 6th Dan Anti-Terror Combat, and 4th Dan Jiu-Jitsu. Don't settle for less; you deserve the best!

Congratulations to the new fighters!

Four Jiu-Jitsu orange belts at Bridport martial arts school

After showing you our four active black belts at Ichinen Bridport Martial Arts School two months ago, and our four yellow belts last month, I would like to introduce you today to our four orange belts. The orange belt, also known as 4th Kyu (4th student grade), is the third graduation in our traditional Jiu-Jitsu style here in Bridport.

From left, Sarah, Adam, Mykyta and Martha. Students at Ichinen Bridport do their grading regularly when they are ready to do so. The quality of the style and the school must be maintained at a high level. Nobody receives a grade if the performance is not good enough at the time. However, no worries, our qualified master, under the supervision of Sensei Horst Lindenau, guarantees top progress.

Come and join us. We would like to have beginners, and you can improve your life.>>> New friends, top self-defence skills, healthy martial arts training for body and mind, and... gradings.

Martial artists of the month February 2025

Each month, one member at Ichinen Bridport is called the martial artist of the month. This fine tradition goes back to 2015, when one of the Jiu-Jitsu students attended the training twice a week regularly despite having to go straight to his night shift work after the dojo.

Since then, members have received this precious honour. Others for example qualified for being the only child and training up to yellow belt just with adult partners. He did very well cope with all those much larger and older training partners and stood his ground in self-defence tests against all individuals.

One little girl was awarded to be the youngest in the group and never missed a single session. Others got this award for attending the most hours at the dojo and making the fastest progress in studies or one reaching 400 hours of Jiu-Jitsu training.

May there be loads more, and become a good example for others within the club. Last month, February 2025 senior Paul Blake and Ebby from the juniors got awarded. Congratulations!!!
