The children learn the following

The class is held in Bridport at the British Legion Hall in Victoria Grove, DT63AD

Every child must perform one or two taster sessions and after that the child, the parent and master Horst Lindenau from Ichinen Bridport decide if the training would be suitable for all.
Don't worry, we won't turn you down and the kids usually love it!

Master Horst Lindenau is born German and lives in Bridport over 28 years. He is a weathered martial artist, German champion and twice a marathon runner. Children can learn the traditional martial art of Jiu-Jitsu and gain grades up to black belt standard, after they are 16 years of age.

Most important in the teaching is the discipline, mental as physical.

Most common attacks

What are the most common attacks in a street fight?
To know this would improve the approach in training and skills to learn for real combat and therefore I wonder, why there is not much to find online nowadays.

When I published my first post on that subject three years ago, I first concentrated on the 10 most common attacks. My source than was the official page from UK government / law enforcement. They provided the most 100! common attacks.

Checking out the german government equivalent page I found it was very much the same. The first 10 equaled in 9 of them. Makes sense, 2 arms, 2 legs and similar cultural background.

Unfortunately then I only copied the first 20 common attacks and only bookmarked the more. Shortly after that, the links been broken and since than there is no information available. I wonder why?

If you find more please get in touch.

What does a grading in martial arts mean to you?

What does a grading in martial arts mean to you? Does a grading just belong to any martial arts or are there styles, they don't do any gradings at all? According to my research, the very most disciplines all over the world do gradings. Although there is a big difference. Traditional Asian styles have between 5 and 15 student grades and 6 to 10 master/grand master grades. some of the newer styles offer up to 15 student grades and it is obvious, that here it is more money grabbing rather than of any use for the individual.

But these modern invented styles do feed the ego of some. They just want the title and as more as better. There is one Italian "Grand Master" who really holds 36 master grades in his style. OK, must be a collector or so.

Other systems feed their children force as from the age of 10 with black belts. Of course the parents pay for it and it feeds their ego too.

We here at Ichinen Bridport martial arts school keep it serious. We have 6 gradings for students before the master grade. Master Horst D. Lindenau, now a teacher and black belt for 28 years is a 2nd Dan black belt. And that's about right as the higher grade should be for the real masters of the past and for martial artists they do and have done great for the whole martial art family.

We do regular gradings at the club as soon a student is ready and perform his/her skills.

You can join this group any Thursday at the regular training. 7.00 - 8.30 pm in Bridport at the Royal British legion hall

A new you in May 2017

Dear former students and interested parties

Today I like to give you a little insight of what happened at Ichinen Bridport martial arts school since you left or contacted us last.

The training of the martial arts is going very well. Students enjoy the traditional way of learning Japanese style Jiu-Jitsu and the Anti Terror Combat supplies a modern approach for daily self defence. Two students have graduated already as black belts and soon three others take their first grading. Jiu-Jitsu has got more senior belts by now than beginners. That needs improvement, that’s why I write to you to encourage you to take it up again.

Self defence with Anti Terror Combat

Update  >>>
Anti Terror Combat is now called BlackCombat!

Ranks of Anti Terror Combat
The martial arts are probably the second oldest trade of mankind. And as in any other trade, there were people in leading positions and those they been apprentices. It is only a few decades ago, that people started ranking systems where they called some a master and some others were the disciples and attached them some kind of distinction. As many of the today’s martial arts are originated from ancient Japan, these awards came in form of a belt.

After the WWII, the world of martial arts was flooded with coloured belts. Today we find systems with up to 18 different colour ranks for students and even the master belts had an increase in numbers and design.

Anti Terror Combat decorates the members with a simple and clear, very modern and same time traditional system of belt ranks. A student who joins in new is a white belt. After he managed his knowledge to a qualified and higher level, he will become a brown belt. These two ranks have to be verified by a grading procedure.

Now the member is a fine martial artist, awarded with the rank of a brown belt and demonstrates the skills within the martial arts, specialized in self defence and combat.
The promotion to a master rank is rather a mental issue, a question of character and leadership, experience and honour than a technical requirement. This rank gets awarded from the Anti Terror Combat organisation headquarters in connection with the national presidents of the country of residence.

There are two general ways to obtain a master's degree in Anti Terror Combat. Either one graduates as a brown belt and gets awarded to 1st Dan black belt. Or the aspirant already is a master in a recognized martial arts style and can provide credible proof of sufficient knowledge and skills in the field of self defence. In this case he can get awarded depending on his profile.

The Anti Terror Combat master degree highlights these special skills and performance and gives proof of good practice. This rank is not in any competition with any other existing ranks and the Anti Terror Combat system does not require a specific method of self defence or style. Each martial artist performs in his field. Although Anti Terror Combat provides the latest and most update from the self defence industry worldwide.

Martial arts seminar in Dorset

Update  >>>
Anti Terror Combat is now called BlackCombat!

Seminar on the 30th of April 2017
1-5 pm at the Loders village hall, Loders, DT6 3SA

Contribution £ 25 / Every participant receives an official Anti Terror Combat certificate

This seminar is devoted to my grandmaster Horst Weiland † Germany, 10th Dan Anti-Terrorkampf. He died 10 years ago and his life was doubtless dedicated to the martial arts. I had the big opportunity to study under his supervision for 365 days of daily training and learning. All what I know today and what influenced me to develop my own way with the martial arts in later years was hugely influenced by this extraordinary man. I pay him the biggest respect and keep his memory in honour.

In the coming up seminar you learn the toughest defence against the 10 most common attacks in Britain and in Germany. It will enable you to deal with the attacker that he cannot stand a chance.

The seminar is suitable for everyone over 16 years. Beginners and advanced visitors welcome.

The Anti Terror Combat organisation is proud to publish their new logo

The previous logo with the flashy death's head was in use to start with, but we thought it looked a bit childish and coltish. As well the font Anti Terror Combat uses now is more readable, less artistic and serves the purpose. As clear the system itself, as awesome the appearance.

Eye sight Yoga seminar coming up this April

Eye sight Yoga seminar coming up this April, 16th , 10-12 am in Bridport.

Tantra Yoga - Three eyes seminar

With master Horst Lindenau

The effects of eye exercises are dual. Physical: Yoga eye exercises help to maintain or improve the

sight and energetic: Since the eyes are also connected to the important Nadis (energy channels), eye exercises harmonize the solar energies in humans.

In addition, the eye exercises open the so called third eye, the Ajna Chakra, which stands for

intuition and knowledge. The third eye is our connection to the spiritual energy of wisdom and
knowledge.

When the third eye is open, energy can flow freely.

The training is, of course, holistic.

When? Sunday, the 16th of April 2017 - 10-12 am

Miyamoto Musashi

"The true science of martial arts means practising them in such a way that they will be useful at any time and to teach them in such a way that they will be useful in all things."

Miyamoto Musashi

Miyamoto Musashi (宮本 武蔵?, c. 1584 – June 13, 1645), also known as Shinmen TakezōMiyamoto Bennosuke or, by his Buddhist nameNiten Dōraku was an expert Japanese swordsman and rōnin. Musashi, as he was often simply known, became renowned through stories of his excellent and unique double-bladed swordsmanship and undefeated record in his 60 duels (next to 33 of Itō Ittōsai). He was the founder of the Hyōhō Niten Ichi-ryū or Niten-ryū style of swordsmanship and in his final years authored The Book of Five Rings (五輪の書Go Rin no Sho?), a book on strategy, tactics, and philosophy that is still studied today
